Meet Marc, Dragonfly’s New Georgia Business Development Manager

Dragonfly is officially expanding into the Atlanta market and we are excited to announce that Atlanta’s own Marc Biedermann will be leading our new branch. Marc, and the rest of Team Dragonfly, are eager to share our passion and customized stormwater solutions with the Atlanta metro area.

Marc, is Dragonfly’s Atlanta, Georgia Stormwater Management Expert

Please tell us about your background?

I majored in both Environmental Biology and Ecology. After graduating, I started my professional career as an Aquatic Biologist at an environmental and civil engineering firm in Illinois. In this role, I gained vast knowledge in waste water treatment, water quality and biological monitoring, green infrastructure, sanitary, stormwater, and combined sewer systems. I relocated to Atlanta in 2015 and began primarily focusing on Stormwater Management. I currently have about 10 years of professional industry experience. Prior to earning degrees, I was involved in both hydraulic and mechanical dredging projects, along with the management of a 2.0-acre pond.

What led you to focus on Stormwater Management?

My passion to protect and improve fisheries is what narrowed my focus to Stormwater Management. I now have a wide range of experience in stormwater related projects. Some of the projects include hydraulic and mechanical dredging, bathymetric and sediment studies, water quality monitoring, IBI scores, outfall surveys, fish stocking, algae and weed control, shoreline stabilization, and detention/retention pond compliance. I’m currently an MS4 certified inspector and a GSWCC Level II Design Plan Reviewer in the state of Georgia.

What are some of your responsibilities as Dragonfly’s Business Development Manager?

My core purpose is to establish new business opportunities and generate sales in the Atlanta metro area. With Dragonfly expanding into the Atlanta market, I’m focused on growing our routine maintenance and corrective repair lines of business, tailored to the stormwater sector of the area. I’m looking forward to building new client relationships and operating as Dragonfly’s local technical expert to provide education on the importance of proper stormwater management. Quality service is important to me and one of the ways I plan to achieve that is by providing customized maintenance and repair solutions to meet the specific needs of each clients’ stormwater device.

Why did you choose to pursue this position with Dragonfly?

When I was first contacted by Dragonfly, I was completely happy and content using my certification as a consultant/inspector. After researching more about the company, my interest peaked. Here is a well-established and proven successful company wanting to expand into the Atlanta market. The online portfolio was almost too good to be true. Once I met the team, I was ALL IN. The culture and team are what makes this a great company. The crews show respect, pride, and passion for their work and each other. Job sites are organized, done to specification, and are left in better condition from when they arrived. I am honored and excited to be the Business Development Manager of the Georgia Branch for such a great company. My goal is to bring the best quality of service to developers, HOA’s, and municipalities for their stormwater needs.

Why is this work important to you?

My passion for nature has always been the driving force steering my career since I was a kid. Every day, I get to interact with all sorts of wildlife, while creating stormwater solutions that will improve the environment. Now that my kids share the same passion for animals, it is enjoyable and a privilege to share daily experiences with them.
