Dragonfly In The Community: Clean Jordan Lake!

Beautiful Jordan Lake

Beautiful Jordan Lake

As a lake, pond, and stormwater management company, Dragonfly is passionate about the environment in our work and in helping our local communities. Recently, Team Dragonfly completed its summer Jordan Lake cleanup. The Dragonfly Team has participated in the Clean Jordan Lake Adopt-A-Shoreline program since 2018. Dragonfly team members volunteer several times throughout the year to remove litter from our assigned shoreline. The program is designed for groups, clubs, and businesses to help keep the 180 miles of Jordan Lake shoreline clean and healthy.

During the most recent litter removal, the Dragonfly volunteers collected 27 bags of trash and 12 propane canisters. There is generally a high quantity of propane canisters littering the shoreline, thankfully there were fewer than usual this time. The program organizers report the propane canisters are utilized by night fishermen.

Jordan Lake provides drinking water for many Triangle area residents, recreational opportunities, and wildlife habitats. Visit the Clean Jordan Lake website to learn more about this important resource and what’s being done to protect its health.
