Dragonfly Pond Works is an environmental service company specializing in lake and pond management. We combine expertise and experience to provide our clients with water beautification solutions for their lakes, retention ponds, wetlands, and other types of storm water facilities. We service aquatic systems throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, from Maryland to Florida. Our clients include corporate accounts, public accounts, commercial accounts and HOA’s.

About the People

mick2 (Large)

Mick is founder and president of Dragonfly Pond Works. He has a passion for working around water, and creating beautiful Sanctuaries for lake and pond owners. Growing up in a coastal region of Brittany, France, Mick guided extensive sand castle and moat construction projects as a 7 year old. Mick is an NC State graduate in Fisheries and Wildlife, and has been managing lakes and ponds in the Southeast and Puerto Rico since 1999. He has too many hobbies to list, and doesn’t have enough time for most of them. He loves taking long walks in the woods with his wife, daughter, and dogs Olive and Sadie.

tom Pullaro

Tom is the Director of Contracting at Dragonfly. His love of being outdoors dates back to his early childhood where he spent countless hours exploring the creeks, ponds, and forests near his home in Western St. Louis County.  Tom attended the University of Missouri where he received his BS in Biology in 1997.  After working for two years at Monsanto Company in St. Louis, Tom relocated to Charleston, South Carolina where he attended the College of Charleston and received an MS in Environmental Studies.  From 2001-2008 Tom was employed as a NOAA contractor studying the effects of changing land use on coastal water quality.  He has worked at Dragonfly Pond works since moving to NC in 2008. Tom is an expert at providing personal care to our long time clients, and can be found on the golf course when not helping clients with their lakes and ponds.

Thomas brings 10 years of aquatic and stormwater management experience to Dragonfly. He puts technical experience and his great customer relations skills to use in overseeing the Maintenance Division of the company. He has a Masters in Environmental Assessments from NC State.  A local of Apex, NC, Thomas is an avid fisherman and hunter. We are happy to have Thomas as part of our growing team at Dragonfly.


Raul is a crew leader in the contracting division, executing large and small pond dredging projects, converting sediment basins into wetlands, and a multitude of other projects. Raul has had a passion for lake and pond management, lake and pond enhancements, and storm water system repairs from the moment he started working with Dragonfly Pond Works. He has a great eye for detail, is highly skilled on all of our equipment, is bilingual and fits perfectly into our culture of high quality work with attention to detail. When not working, Raul is a star defender on a local soccer team.


Demetrio is an aquatic technician at Dragonfly and is always upbeat and ready to get the job done properly. We document our pond maintenance projects with before, during and after pictures. Because Demetrio is always an active participant, he seems to find his way into nearly every picture! He knows the next step to keep a project moving properly. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family. Demetrio is a great part of the high quality and efficient team here at Dragonfly Pond Works!


Ryan has 8 years of management experience in the green industry and is a crew leader in the contracting division. Ryan is a hands-on guy, with a “get it done” attitude. His knowledge of landscapes and how to properly phase and complete high end projects is an asset to our clients. Ryan is one of those people that if you ask him: Do you think you can handle this project? He’ll always say: “Oh yeah!” That’s a great attitude when dealing with tough pond and lake restoration projects. Ryan is an avid outdoorsman and a great asset to our clients.


Bill is a Crew Leader in the pond maintenance division. He is very dedicated to the business, and has a great work ethic. He is very detailed on his pond maintenance activities and inspections, which enables us to provide a great maintenance service for our clients.


Val is the Business Manager at Dragonfly Pond Works. By developing internal business processes and seeking to make the business function more efficiently for our clients, Val is a key part of our continued growth.  With diverse experience in bookkeeping, sales, management and biology, she is a perfect fit for our growing company. She also currently serves as VP/Treasurer with an organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for children. She is a graduate of NC State University.

Wes is the engineering intern for 2015-2016. He is studying at NC State for his Biological and Agriculture Engineering degree. He handles handles account maintenance, visit report preparations, and helping complete annual inspections for BMP certifying engineers. This will be great field experience for his future career as an engineer. We love his positive attitude and willingness to get the job done. Welcome on board Wes!


Ubaldo is a pond technician with capabilities in all parts of the business. Coming from a strong background in landscaping, Ubaldo can work on any maintenance account, or large scale contracting job. He is highly skilled in small equipment and in wetland detail work. He has great work ethic and is always looking for the next thng that needs to be done to execute projects properly. He enjoys playing soccer in his free time.

Also coming from a strong background in landscaping, Pete is Crew Leader in our maintenance division. He is a team player and is always coming up with ways to improve our services, and the way we conduct business. He enjoys resting in his free time and is a dog lover.


Scott leads and manages the firm’s business in the Greater Wilmington market. He directs workflow and supervises all operational areas, and excels in creating long-lasting client relationships. Scott joins Dragonfly from Foster Lake and Pond Management in Garner, NC, where he has served in managerial positions since 2013.  He also attended Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC, and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.


Tom Willson comes to us from the Finger Lakes Region of NY.  He grew up on Seneca Lake where his love of everything water was nurtured: sailing, skiing, fishing, cruising and exploring.  He studied engineering and played rugby at Rochester Institute of Technology.  Tom has business development experience spanning thirty years, primarily in land development and construction but also includes agriculture. His experience is vast and multifaceted, including the assistance in launching startups, taken “mom and pop” companies to the next level and helped grow established small business into multi-million dollar companies.  Currently Tom is facilitating our expansion in Florida.

When Tom isn’t working he spends his leisure time parenting and teaching youth.  Tom and his wife Stephanie have five adult children, one grandchild and are foster parents for five children who will be returning to their biological parents soon – the transition is bittersweet.  He hopes to someday spend more time  fishing, camping, collecting more antiques, riding one of his many bicycles or sitting by a lake and looking at the sky as a dragonfly goes by.



As one of our Crew Leaders here at Dragonfly, James grew up locally in Garner, NC,  where his passion for the outdoors led him to NC State University. He received a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences and Conservation Biology in December 2013.  After graduation he worked for the North Carolina Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Unit at NC State until February 2016.  With the co-op unit he participated in fisheries and aquatic research in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Puerto Rico.  He spends his free time fishing, hunting, and boating, and particularly enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and his dog. 

Paul is a new Crew Leader in the pond maintenance division.  He has worked on a variety of ecological projects across the country and truly loves what he does.  A graduate of Purdue University, he has worked for a soil conservation district in the cold winters of Minot, ND to an ecosystem restoration project in the hot summers of San Antonio, TX – and everywhere in between.  Paul is a native plant enthusiast and enjoys hiking, travelling, and exploring new genres of music.

Bryan is the newest member of the Dragonfly team.  Working out of the Charlotte metro area, he will be the new Branch Manager for Western Carolina.  He attended NC State, graduating in 2000 with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology.   He has worked in the industry for 15 years, and has a passion for successful pond management.  He has obtained his aquatic pesticide licenses in NC and SC.  In his free time, he is also an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting and fishing.  Welcome aboard, Bryan!
